I had high hopes, being a Trekker, that this game would be great. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed.

Apart from most of the visuals, i.e.. scenery, units, buildings, explosions etc, which were good, the game play however left a lot to be desired. Everything seemed to move at snail pace. Units kept getting stuck. Any missed click resulted in a boring scroll back to the colony hub. Too many things in fact to be mentioned.

I also expected it to have the intelligence and industry of Star Trek that we all know. I can't believe that a mission could be lost for the lack of personnel or resources. Picard could always get his hands on a phaser tank or have a building built. Too much micromanagement and not enough action. In one mission, I just couldn't build enough to stop the enemy from flattening me every time. Ok, so maybe I'm not the best gamer out there, but 99% of us aren't. It would in my humble opinion be a lot nicer if you could build up to strength first and then try to carry out your mission.

Speaking of strength, for a Starfleet Fleet of phaser tanks and artillery, my mates and I here in the scrub could take them out on any of our hunting expeditions, drunk! Very unlike Starfleet to put idiots in charge of these weapons, but that's what it looks like.

Also, Starfleet has the technology to scan entire planets at any given command. Why then the need for a scout vehicle, which you need to scan the planets surface in order to build things and see your enemy? Again, too much micromanagement taking away from the overall mission and enjoyment of an already slow and boring game play.

The game is supposedly an RTSG, but strategy should not be included in this one as it is superior numbers and pot luck that you find something to complete your mission the real factor. Maybe I expected more of a storyline. Maybe I expected it to be more like Star Trek. Playing the game made me feel like the whole of Starfleet was run by drunken morons just out of Kindergarten. I seriously doubt that anyone would truly enjoy this game, unless you're a gamer that likes pulling your hair out buy the roots. Rating? I want my money back!
