Once again, join the crew of the Enterprise D on an all new adventure by
Spectrum Holobyte. This time, two new races cause a noticeable disturbance,
that catches the interest of both the Romulan Star Empire and Federation. The
Chodak make their first of three appearances, and space combat takes a step
up in depth. The story starts off simple enough, but later, the actual threat
is revealed. The game takes a slow place, not giving details away in large
amounts, but in pieces. But as Captain Picard once said "To humans, a mystery
is irresistible."

The Enterprise itself is like frozen in time. The characters don't move.
The worlds themselves are animated by only a small amount. Characters on the
worlds move smoothly, and Phaser/Disrupter fire glows as fired. Ship combat
is detailed by an overview of the Enterprise and enemy ship, Phasers and
Photon Torepedos are bright and nice to watch. If shields are penetrated,
then you will see a minor explosion. Could've used a bit of work.

Could've also used work. The music is blah in most areas, except one or
two worlds. I can't believe this is the best they could do. A little action
music would've been nice.

I enjoyed the cut scenes. I can only count two or three, but they are
well displayed. I would've liked to see a few orbit shots, or Turbolift
scenes, as scene in 25th Anniversary (NES).

Challenge: 4
Your typical maze game. The worlds will have you confused and scratching
your head. Especially the ice/mining world. A map would've been helpful.
You'll feel like your going in circles. This is more frustrating than fun.
space combat is fairly easy. Except if your Impulse Engines are damaged. But
you can divert auxiliary power to shields to protect them, or to the weapons
to blow up your enemy faster. Don't forget to check out Engineering to assign
repairs to the 15+ systems displayed (Communication, Hull, Transporters, Aux.
Power, Shields/Weapons/Engines Sub systems, etc.)

What are all these Romulan vessels doing in Federation space? You'll
spend a lot of time blowing them up. Also, the Library computer is completely
available to you, there is tons of information! Aside from that, nothing new
to do.

This game could have been great. However, it is just average. Which is a
shame. Don't pay too much for this game, it lacks many things, with only a
few advantages. The Space Combat is above average, and the plot is also
great. Planets and Space ships that you beam over too, had great potential.
You will enjoy this game, but as I said, it's nothing to what all Trek fans
could've really experienced. This is one time Spectrum Holobyte didn't
deliver.
